It’s Crowded in Here explores the emotional density of an inner world in which thoughts, memories, and sensations compete for space. Through overlapping forms and compressed movement, the painting transforms psychological accumulation into a vivid visual field.
The composition resists a single point of focus; instead, it asks the eye to move continuously between fragments, echoes, and interruptions. What appears playful at first gradually reveals a more intimate tension between connection and confinement.
The work considers how the self can become crowded by everything it carries—past experience, imagined futures, and feelings that have not yet found a language. Now held in a private collection, the painting forms part of Shi’s continuing examination of emotional intensity, embodiment, and the shifting architecture of inner life.
